KOREAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM

We are thrilled that you are considering Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) for your academic journey. As a dedicated staff member of the International Affairs Office, We're here to provide you with all the essential information you need to apply for our degree programs. Let's explore the details below: 

1. Overview 


  • Objective: To help students learn Korean language skills and culture for academic purposes and to function fluently for business or vocational purposes.
  • Sessions: 4 semesters per year (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter).
  • Class Time: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM (including a 1-hour lunch break), 10 weeks per semester (except for the Winter semester which is 9 weeks).
  • Class Hours: 200 hours per semester (4 hours/day x 5 days/week x 10 weeks).

  • Levels: 6 levels in total (1 to 6).
  • Culture Excursion: 1 or 2 times each semester.
  • Evaluation: 2 exams per semester (Midterm/Final).
  • Level Test: Required upon acceptance into the Korean Language Course. Students with prior Korean knowledge must take the test for level placement. Students who have just begun studying Korean will be placed in Level 1.

2. Eligibility 


Those who have completed (or are expected to complete) a high school diploma, or those who are recognized as having an equivalent or higher level of education. 

3. Application Process

  1. Application Submission: Complete the application form and pay the application fee (KRW 50,000).
  2. Submission of Additional Documents: Submit additional documents if required.
  3. Screening Process Notification: Await notification of the screening results.
  4. Tuition Fee Payment & Submission of Original Documents: Pay the tuition fee and submit original documents (in person or via EMS).
  5. Registration Confirmation & Issuance of Certificate of Admission: SeoulTech confirms registration and issues the certificate of admission.
  6. Visa Application: The student applies for a visa at the Korean Consulate (Embassy).
  7. Notification of Visa Result & Entry Information: Receive notification of the visa result and entry information.
  8. Arrival & Start Class: Arrive in Korea and begin classes.

  • Application Period: December 23rd (Mon), 2024 ~ March 19th (Wed), 2025
  • Acceptance Announcement: April 16th (Wed), 2025
  • Airport Pickup: June 12th (Thu) (11:00, 16:00)
  • Level Test: June 16th (Mon)
  • Orientation (OT): June 17th (Tue)
  • Course Begins: June 18th (Wed)
  • Course Ends: August 27th (Wed)

Fall Semester (10 Weeks)

  • Application Period: April 28th (Mon), 2025 ~ June 13th (Fri), 2025
  • Acceptance Announcement: July 11th (Fri), 2025
  • Airport Pickup: September 10th (Wed) (11:00, 16:00)
  • Level Test: September 11th (Thu)
  • Orientation (OT): September 11th (Thu)
  • Course Begins: September 12th (Fri)
  • Course Ends: November 28th (Fri)

Winter Semester (10 Weeks)

  • Application Period: July 28th (Mon), 2025 ~ September 12th (Fri), 2025
  • Acceptance Announcement: October 15th (Wed), 2025
  • Airport Pickup: December 11th (Thu) (11:00, 16:00)
  • Level Test: December 12th (Fri)
  • Orientation (OT): December 12th (Fri)
  • Course Begins: December 15th (Mon)
  • Course Ends: February 27th (Fri), 2026

⚠ Important Notes:

  • Airport Pickup Location: Incheon Airport T1 (11:00, 16:00 twice)
  • The annual schedule is subject to change.
  • (As of January 23, 2025) The selection of 13 students for the 2025 summer semester has been completed, and the application system is closed.
  • The application period for the 2025 fall/winter semester has been changed.

5. Documents for Application


Required Documents:
  1. Copy of applicant's passport
  2. Original copy of diploma from the last school attended (in Korean or English)
    • Must be Apostilled or certified by the consulate of an embassy of the Republic of Korea
  3. Original copy of grade transcript from the last school attended (in Korean or English)
    • Must be Apostilled or certified by the consulate of an embassy of the Republic of Korea
  4. Original certified bank statement of the applicant's or parent's account with a minimum balance of KRW 10,000,000
    • Uzbekistan: more than 3 months deposit at KDB bank in UZB
    • Vietnam: more than 3 months deposit
  5. Family relationship certificate
  6. Copy of the applicant's national ID card
  7. Certificate of parent's income

Optional Documents:

  1. (For dormitory applicants) Tuberculosis (TB) test result
  2. (Optional) Insurance policy for those who do not wish to purchase international student insurance from SeoulTech (approximately KRW 70,000 for 6 months)


Additional Notes:

  • Submit your application and the KRW 50,000 fee before the deadline.
  •  Ensure your diploma and transcripts are certified by the Korean Embassy or Apostilled.
    ※ Additional documents may be requested and will not be returned.
    ※ Document forgery will cause admission cancellation and no fee refund.
    ※ The dormitory request is a survey; a separate application will be announced, but placement isn't guaranteed.

6. Tuition


  • KRW 1,500,000 (per semester)
  • New students must register for more than 2 semesters and must pay an initial application processing fee of KRW 50,000 (non-refundable).

7. Scholarship


  • A prize for outstanding grade: One student will be selected from each level to receive a prize at the end of the semester.
    • Levels 1-4: Attendance of 90% or above, Total Evaluation of 85 points or above.
    • Levels 5-6: Attendance of 90% or above, Total Evaluation of 80 points or above.

  • Undergraduate benefits for Korean Language Course students: Scholarship offered to SeoulTech Undergraduate students who have completed 4 or more semesters in the SeoulTech Korean Language Course (must have 80% or more attendance for the last 2 semesters) and apply for a degree program within one year of completing the language course.

  • Discount benefits on tuition fees for SeoulTech members:
    • SeoulTech Invited Exchange Students: 50% tuition fee discount
    • SeoulTech Undergraduate and Graduate Students: 70% tuition fee discount
    • Instructors and staff involved in MOUs with SeoulTech: 50% tuition fee discount
